Viva México en TAMIU
El pasado jueves 13 de septiembre, Texas A&M International University adelantó el tradicional Grito mexicano en conmemoración de la Independencia mexicana celebrada cada 15 de septiembre para que estudiantes y profesores disfrutarán de este patriótico dÃa.
El acontecimiento se llevó a cabo en las instalaciones del Centro Estudiantil (Student Center) a las 6:30 p.m., el cual fue organizado por el grupo encargado de los eventos estudiantiles del campus (CAB). La celebración comenzó con el estante de fotos mexicanas donde los invitados al evento pudieron tomarse fotos con el tÃpico sombrero mexicano, banderas, ponchos y maracas tradicionales del folklore mexicano. Mientras tanto, la música regional mexicana no podÃa hacer falta y al ritmo de la música se dio la bienvenida oficial a los presentes para asà poder comenzar con el usual juego mexicano "gallito" y dar inicio a la gastronomÃa mexicana que estaba tan esperada por los invitados. Tostadas con frijoles, lechuga, tomate y queso fueron el platillo principal para después ser acompañadas por elote desgranado y las famosas aguas frescas.
Alrededor de las 7:30 p.m. el ballet folklórico universitario, al mando de la profesora de danza Sandra Leal, hizo acto de presencia en la pista del recinto para dar catedra del baile tradicional mexicano y asà remontar a la audiencia al México colonial. Continuo al baile, se llevó a cabo el concurso del grito donde los participantes expulsaron a todo pulmón el "Ahhhhh ja jay".
Para concluir la velada de esta gran tradición mexicana, no podÃa faltar el mariachi estudiantil de TAMIU dirigido por el profesor Jerry Quintero. Canciones como "La bamba veracruzana", "El rey" y "Hermoso cariño" fueron algunas de las canciones del repertorio que pudo disfrutar la audiencia. El evento terminó al "Son de la negra" minutos después de las ocho de la noche.
A la celebración asistieron maestros y estudiantes de diferentes nacionalidades para aprender un poco y recordar las raÃces mexicanas al igual que para pasar un tiempo ameno.
